Peace and Quiet . . .
Peace and quiet is what a lot of people want especially as we get older. I find i do like to spend quiet times with myself rather than join a crowd of people where there’s a lot of noise and activity. Give me a quiet place, a good book, cup of tea or my favourite drink and i’m absolutely fine. Go off, leave me alone for a few hours and come back, and you’ll find me exactly in the same place that you left me, still enjoying every moment.
We live in a world and a society that is addicted to doing things quickly, it’s often called the microwave generation because we want everything done yesterday.
Ask someone to slow down, they haven’t got the time. But if you don’t slow down, you’ll never get to where you’re going.
Slowing down is a wonderful thing, it helps you think better, make better choices and decisions, and generally makes you feel a lot more relaxed and life seems a lot smoother and easier when you take your time. You still get done all what you need to but without all the stress and i need to get-it-done-yesterday type of living which wears a person out and i think it ages people more quickly as well because they can’t relax.
Because we are used to doing life at a quick pace it can seem that if you want to do life at a slower pace then there’s something wrong with you, but i think because you are cutting against the grain of the status quo that doesn’t see the benfits of slowing down and taking life at a slower pace can have on an individual.
You know what’s it like if you take your time when eating a meal for example, savouring every mouthful of delicious food rather than gulping it down because you have something else to do. I think we suffer from always trying to get somewhere else and so we don’t enjoy the present moment, we’ve become too impatient never enjoying where we currently are along this journey called our life.
Next time you find yourself feeling a bit agitated because things aren’t moving quick enough for you, relax, take your time and you’ll end up at the place you need to be at just the right time. Not a second before, not a second less.
